The Life Assessment by Linear Cumulative Damage Rule for Cold Dwell Fatigue of Ti-6Al-4V

چکیده

Fatigue life of Ti alloys is decreased by tensile stress dwell even at room temperature, which called Cold Dwell (CDF). CDF similar to creep-fatigue some metals (stainless steel, Ni-base alloy, and so on) in the point decrease fatigue with or strain high temperature. In this study, time exhaustion rule ductility based on linear cumulative damage were calculated for assessments. case rule, total was as DF+DC< (0.03, 0.015) (DF: damage, DC: creep damage). DF+DC~1. Additionally, feature fracture surfaces after tests changed increase time. This trend corresponded balance between rule.

Fatigue of Ti-6Al-4V

Metallic biomaterials have essentially three fields of use; these are the artificial hip joints, screw, plates and nails for internal fixation of fractures, and dental implants. Any of these devices must support high mechanical load and resistance of material against breakage is essential. High mechanical properties are needed for structural efficiency of surgical and dental implants. But their...

Notch Corrosion Fatigue Behavior of Ti-6Al-4V

The aim of this paper is to map the corrosion fatigue characteristics of Ti-6Al-4V alloy through the evaluation of the corrosion fatigue initiation and failure mechanisms. The study included the effect of the stress concentration factor at very high Kt values and the role of different inert or corrosive environments. This alloy is widely used in naval-structures and aero-engine communities and ...

ROLE OF FOREIGN OBJECT DAMAGE ON THRESHOLDS FOR HIGH-CYCLE FATIGUE IN Ti-6Al-4V

The increasing incidence of military aircraft engine failures that can be traced to high-cycle fatigue (HCF) has prompted a reassessment of the design methodologies for HCF-critical components, such as turbine blades and disks. Because of the high-frequency vibratory loading involved, damage-tolerant design methodologies based on a threshold for no crack growth offer a preferred approach. As im...

Foreign-object damage and high-cycle fatigue of Ti–6Al–4V

Recent high-cycle fatigue (HCF) related failures of gas-turbine jet engines have prompted a re-examination of the design methodologies for HCF-critical components, such as titanium alloy turbine blades. As foreign-object damage (FOD) from ingested debris is a key concern for HCF-related failures of such blades, the current study is focused on the role of simulated high velocity FOD in affecting...
